Spirit Award Winners

Since 2001, Arbor Hospice has given the Spirit Award to an employee that possesses an amazing spirit and who goes beyond the ordinary every day. The criteria for the award includes someone who:

  • Goes above and beyond the call of duty
  • Cheers on others
  • Is looking for ways to achieve greater success toward Arbor Hospice's mission and operation
  • Has the agency, patients and families' best interests at heart
  • Always chips in, regardless of job title or how busy they are
  • Shares creative ideas and rolls up their sleeves to make it happen

Previous Spirit Award recipients include Karen Ludwig (2001), Glenda Gordon (2005), Krista Newman (2007), Mary Wisely (2008), Julie Welch (2009) and Pat Bauer (2010).

The 2011 Spirit Award recipient is Arbor Hospice's Spiritual Care Coordinator, Reverend Diane Smith.

Smith has received numerous nominations in her eleven years with Arbor Hospice and is a consistent advocate for Arbor Hospice. She willingly added new patient responsibilities to her caseload and rises to every challenge. Smith is a wonderful presence and constantly provides tranquility, peace and hope. On a daily basis, Smith impresses coworkers, patients and their families as she tackles challenging situations, provides support and advocates for patients.

Congratulations Diane, and thank you for all your hard work.
