A Husband's Thanks
Dear Arbor Hospice Team,
I am writing this letter to tell you how grateful we were to work with such a caring and compassionate team of individuals. Having dealt with Arbor Hospice over ten years ago when my mother was a patient in your in-patient care facility, we knew of the services and wonderful care my wife would receive. So when we were in need of your services for my wife, we knew we were in good hands.
The day we called Arbor Hospice to admit my wife, we felt as if there was someone else to walk with us through this last difficult journey of life. The nurses who worked with my wife treated her with compassion, and most of all the dignity she deserved in her final weeks and days. Her nurses were always attentive to her needs and never made us feel as if our concerns were trivial. They spent as much time as we needed and provided us with the support that not only she needed but us as well. We will be forever thankful as her last weeks were able to be spent in the home setting surrounded by her family. The nurses and health care aides in our opinion were "angels of mercy." We would like to mention these truly remarkable ladies as they helped us in a very important time in our lives. Our first nurse, Kathy Summers-Sitarski, and the two nurses who were assigned to us during Kathy's medical leave, Patricia Couture and Mary Lou Coates were absolutely wonderful in their care and expertise of palliative care. We also had the opportunity to see a wonderful nurse named Jane, who visited multiple times the weeked when my wife was declining. I would also like to mention Erma, who visited my wife to care for her personal needs. She was always attentive and gentle in her care. Last but not least, I would like to mention Janic Kitt-Blinn who fought for my wife to be able to receive as many thoracentesis as needed for her comfort. Everyone from the nurses, the children's grief counselor, the chaplain and social worker worked together to make this process less fearful for us and more compassionate and dignified for my wife.
We hope your organization will continue to provide families with the same loving experience that our family received. We are thankful there are special people in this world like you who are called to this line of work. Thank you again from my heart. Your gentleness and compassion will never be forgotten.
A Sincere Husband
