Galens Medical Society grant will provide opportunities for children to process their feelings and remember loved ones at Camp Good Grief
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (April 15, 2024) – Arbor Hospice recently received a $2,500 grant from Galens Medical Society through the University of Michigan Medical School to support its Camp Good Grief program for bereaved children.
Camp Good Grief is a free grief support group designed for children ages 8-17 who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The camp is a day-long program held at Camp Ohiyesa in Holly, Michigan that provides grief support, emotional comfort and outdoor activities. The camp is free of charge and is run by qualified grief professionals and trained volunteers from Arbor Hospice. The program includes a variety of recreational activities, such as arts and crafts, music therapy, pet therapy and camp related team-building games that are designed to provide fun and adventure for the participants. Children have the opportunity to express their emotions, remember their loved ones and establish lasting friendships.
“Arbor Hospice is committed to serving children throughout Washtenaw County by providing grief support and the opportunity to connect with others going through the grieving process,” said Chad Creekmore, director of philanthropy for Arbor Hospice. “This grant will help provide support, education and guidance that is critical for children struggling with the emotional toll of losing a loved one.”
