Arbor Hospice Benefits From Luminosity Salon & Spa Day
Posted: December 2, 2013
In November, community members treated themselves to a day of relaxation and pampering at Luminosity Salon & Spa, all to support Arbor Hospice. For an entire day, Luminosity Salon & Spa, located in Saline, opened their doors to the community and donated 100 percent of proceeds—nearly $2,000—to Arbor Hospice in support of its grief support services, complementary therapies, pediatric hospice and care for the uninsured.
- Complementary Therapies –Arbor Hospice offers a wide range of therapies designed to provide comfort to patients and control distressing symptoms. These include music, massage and pet therapy.
- Grief Support Services – Medicare-certified hospices, like Arbor Hospice, provide grief support services to family members for 13 months following the death of a loved one at no charge. Arbor Hospice provides a comprehensive grief support program for children, adults and families in the community regardless of whether a family member received care from Arbor Hospice.
- Pediatric Hospice Services – Due to higher medication costs, specially-sized medical equipment and families’ emotional needs, pediatric hospice service is more expensive than that for adults. Arbor Hospice cares for an average of 20 pediatric patients each year.
- Uncompensated Care – Arbor Hospice serves more than 250 people every day in their own homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or The Residence of Arbor Hospice where the cost for care is often not fully covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance reimbursement. Additionally, Arbor Hospice provides care to patients and families without insurance, who do not have the ability to pay for services on their own.
Since 1984 Arbor Hospice, headquartered in Ann Arbor, MI, has been committed to providing quality, compassionate care for those experiencing life-limiting illnesses throughout southeast Michigan. Arbor Hospice is integrated into the community with the help of its experienced staff and caring volunteers through its certified hospice and palliative care services, inpatient hospice facility, grief support services and community education programs.
