Our Master’s level therapists, trained in both anticipatory grief and bereavement, use art, conversation and play as comfortable outlets for children and teens to express their feelings surrounding their loved one’s illness and death. Our therapists also work with the parents and/or caregivers to gain an understanding of the family’s beliefs, questions, and concerns about changes in the family and how to address them. The therapist will explain how children might respond to these changes based on the children’s age and situation and offer suggestions and guidelines to help children through these difficult situations. One of the most important benefits of attending a support group program is to establish relationships with other who have experienced a similar loss. This is very important for children and teens who may not know anyone else who has had a similar experience.
