At Arbor Hospice, we understand that grief is a complex journey that continues long after a significant person has died.   Through the programs of Arbor Hospice's Grief Services, we offer a safe environment where those who have experienced a death can find comfort, support and hope. Arbor Hospice offers support groups to educate and support anyone who has had a family member or friend who utilized the services of Arbor Hospice. The support groups are also open to anyone in the community who has experienced any loss through death.  There is no charge to attend a support group; however, donations are requested to support our programs.

One of the major benefits of participating in a support group is the opportunity to share experiences with others who have had a similar loss. The Loss of a Significant Person is open to any loss relationship. Our other support groups, such as Loss of a Spouse/Partner, Loss of an Adult Child, and Adult Loss of a Parent, are focused on a particular loss relationship.  Focused support groups provide an opportunity to meet other individuals who have experienced a similar loss. Support group participants understand your story in a way that your family or friends may not comprehend.

Adult support groups:

• are comprised of 10-12 individuals.
• are facilitated by compassionate and experienced specialists.
• meet for an 8-week series.
• include an educational topic each week including the  grief process, depression, holidays, and forgiveness.
• offer a safe environment to share your personal story and meet others who have experienced a similar loss.
• provide education about healthy coping skills to support you in your grief work.

Groups are offered three (3) times during the year (February, June, and October) in Ann Arbor, Northville and Downriver (Trenton).
