- Focuses
on people
- Is intermittent,
not round-the-clock care. The staff comes and goes as the patient requires.
- Manages any distressful symptoms such as anxiety and restlessness, and the side effects of treatment, including pain, nausea, and shortness of breath.
- Has staff
available to visit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Provides
assistance with personal care needs of the patient and respite care
for caregivers.
- Supports
caregivers through education about the disease and care, support groups,
and counseling.
- Helps
patients focus on what's important to them. Often it's the simple things
that mean the most: being able to enjoy a stroll outside or share a
cup of coffee with a friend.
- Provides
special programs for children and their families through the Pathfinders
program.
- Provides grief support for the family through phone contacts, support groups, education and social events.
