- Focuses
on people
- Is intermittent,
not round-the-clock care. The staff comes and goes as the patient requires.

Manages any distressful symptoms such as anxiety and restlessness, and the side effects of treatment, including pain, nausea, and shortness of breath.
- Has staff
available to visit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Provides
assistance with personal care needs of the patient and respite care
for caregivers.
- Supports
caregivers through education about the disease and care, support groups,
and counseling.
- Helps
patients focus on what's important to them. Often it's the simple things
that mean the most: being able to enjoy a stroll outside or share a
cup of coffee with a friend.
- Provides
special programs for children and their families through the Pathfinders
program.
- Provides
grief support for the family through phone contacts, support groups,
education and social events.
