Arbor Hospice is welcoming Medicaid recipients for in-patient care following the State of Michigan’s reinstatement of the Medicaid patient room and board allocation. Medicaid previously covered hospice and palliative care but provided no benefit for room and board, which made it more difficult for older and low-income recipients to find care at an in-patient facility.
The inclusion of a room and board allocation in Michigan’s Medicaid plans means more patients now have access to in-patient residential hospice care at The Residence of Arbor Hospice, in Saline, which features 13 private patient hospice rooms.
“This is a very welcome change in policy for Arbor Hospice and the greater healthcare community,” said Bob Cahill, President and CEO of Arbor Hospice & Palliative Care, “Any change that makes our service more accessible to those who need it most is undoubtedly encouraging in our mission to provide the highest quality hospice care regardless of age, diagnosis, or ability to pay.”
The Residence of Arbor Hospice will continue to accept patients based on their level of need for in-patient services. To inquire about care at The Residence of Arbor Hospice in Saline, contact Kelly Wicker, Operations Manager, at 888.992.2273.
